| Reconciliation: Bridging Theory to Practice |

When the worst of violence is over and there seems to be room for rehabilitation, what are the needs of people so that they may live in sustainable peace? Certainly reconciliation is an expressed need, but what does it entail? Will a solicitor or a politician mean the same as a woman who has lost hearth and home?
This theme was extensively discussed and studied by the CJR in the past year. Research Consultant Iris van der Mark has developed a comprehensive framework to clarify the variety of theories on reconciliation in concrete terms. Local actors may use this framework as a tool for mapping the needs for reconciliation processes in their countries, in assessing where and how they can best contribute. The report Reconciliation: Bridging Theory to Practice is intended for practitioners.
